Applicant Tracking Systems usually known as ATS is applicant tracking software, which simplifies the task for an applicant and the client or recruiter. If you are using this system then you need not to maintain any individual data or status of applicants but it does all for you. It’s a real helpful tool for the candidates too. So let’s try to categorize the benefits and guidelines that an applicant must be aware about the system.

The first and most important characteristic you should analyse is that the working procedure of recruiting software. It first of all filters out the applicability of a candidate who signs for a resume with its database, which an organization initially feeds it. That’s whether a candidate is qualified enough for the vacant post. This is to be kept in mind that the software first matches candidate’s qualification and other related data provided with database. Software is always meant to eradicate those applications at first, which do not follow the capability.  That’s why capability is always a first concern for the candidate, recruiter and the recruiting software.

You can achieve a better capability by,

  • Try to fill your resume only with the data asked by the software.
  • Qualifications should be filled with the standard data, which can be easily confirmed by ATS.
  • Look for the matches between your KSAs with the recommendation and fill out accordingly.

It will always be useful and effective as the chances of your resume being listed and viewed by the hiring manager increases.

In rare case a recruiting officer or hiring manager can get attracted to any unique point, which your resume might contain. This does not happen often but increase the chances of you being called up by the manager from a list of hundreds and thousands incapable or low qualified applications. So try to give all the experience you are having regarding the post and any damn sort of qualification whether low or high in your resume. If possible the Applicant Tracking Software will enlist you in a unique category.

Usually ATS asks for a single resume even if you have to apply for many posts and candidates apply considering only one main post they have in their mind. This is never a good idea when you are applying for the post. Better is to confirm about the ATS which the organization is using and learn to use keyword theme.

Now being a candidate to apply for a post, ask yourself if you are really capable for the post. Don’t try to look for fate far more than your qualification. Just think if your resume is directly passed to the hiring manager without matching qualifications and other capabilities through Applicant Tracking System, will that be accepted or even tout the manager? If no, then its better to save your time in applying for the post as it will be certainly not enlisted by ATS even not in any waiting.

applicant tracking software is been the gold mine for HR in simplifying their work. Most of the big companies are using it for faster results and to get the best talent.
